What's a Medical Transcriber?

Transcribing, no matter the field you are in, is listening to a video or audio file and typing in a document what is being said.

A Medical Transcription, also known as MT, is an allied health profession dealing with the process of transcribing voice-recorded medical reports that are dictated by physicians, nurses and other healthcare practitioners. Medical reports can be voice files, notes taken during a lecture, or other spoken material.

Medical Transcriptionists are sometimes referred to as healthcare documentation specialists; they transcribe and edit health practitioners’ dictated reports, procedures, and notes in an electronic format in order to create documents representing the treatment history of patients.
